Nell Ackerman is a third year double major in Latin American Studies and History. She studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the spring semester of 2015 with the IFSA Butler Argentine Universities Program, taking classes at the University of Buenos Aires and pursuing a concentration in Gender, Diversity, and Minority Studies. During her time in Buenos Aires, she worked as an intern at the Center for Human Rights in the Program for Migration and Asylum, where she conducted research for a project on Central American child migrants’ journeys to the United States, and for the June 2015 conference on the Committee on the Rights of a Child. Nell hopes to continue study and research in the field of immigration. She is considering attending graduate school, pursuing immigration law, and/or working for an NGO that focuses on immigrants. She speaks fluent Spanish and is in the process of learning Portuguese.
