Elzbieta Sklodowska, who has recently published Invento, luego resisto: El Periodo Especial en Cuba como experiencia y metáfora (1990-2015),  will give a lecture focusing on the material culture of the “Periodo Especial” on Wednesday November 8 at 4:30 pm, Gibson 211.  

 

The title is “Post-Soviet (Re)collections: From Artifact to Artifice in the Wake of the ‘Special Period’ in Cuba”.

 

Elzbieta Sklodowska is Randolph Family Professor at Washington University in St. Louis and a specialist on Caribbean literature and culture, especially Cuba, and “testimonio” literature.

This lecture is co-sponsored by the Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese and the Latin American Studies Program.
